Some people try to postpone the fact of washing the pillows as long as possible, because they consider that the drying requires a lot of time and, if there are some humidity inside, fungi, mites and bacteria will end. They actually appear precisely if we do not wash them frequently.
How to wash the pillow
First of all, as we always say, it is best to check the instructions of the pillow's own label. There we will find details and tips for cleaning, as well as the maximum recommended temperature. In general, no pillow should be washed at more than 40º C.
But we must also take into account the filling. Is it feathers? Is it synthetic? If we are in the first case, they are especially delicate. When it comes to washing them, it is important to check them well to ensure that they have any bare part, that it can cause loss of the filling or ends up deforming.

Although this depends on enough factors, as if we sweat, the type of case we use, etc., would be advisable to wash them three or four times a year.

How to wash a viscoelastic pillow
If it is a breathable viscoelastic pillow (once again, we should be able to check it on the label), we can put them in the washing machine without problems.
In the case of a moldable viscoelastic pillow, we cannot put it in the washing machine. We will have to wash it by hand, although it will be simple. To do this we will pour temperate water with a pinch of soft detergent. Next we will moisten a cloth and we will clean it by applying circular movements. We can use a towel to dry the parts with too much moisture.
Once washed, it is recommended to let it dry at a point with good ventilation. In the case of seeing ourselves in the need to dry them quickly to be able to use them, we also have the option of using the vacuum itself, yes, always very carefully and using the more delicate adapter we have.
How to wash a latex pillow
If it is a hypoallergenic latex pillow, in principle it would not be necessary to wash it, always taking care and frequently washing the protective case.
Normal latex pillows should be washed. Unless otherwise indicated on the label, it is worth washing it directly by hand.
We can fill a container with warm water by adding special detergent for delicate garments. And the same as with the moldable viscoelastic pillows, we use a cloth trying that it is not very humid and we are washing it by applying movements in circles. We can use towels and let them dry directly to the sun.
How to wash a feather pillow
The Pillows With natural feathers or down, they should not be washed. It is important to check the label to know exactly what type of pillow it is, since sometimes they are synthetic feathers. In the case of pillows with synthetic feathers, it is possible and even recommended machine washing. Always using delicate centrifuged programs and never exceed the temperatures of 40ºC.
The trick of introducing tennis balls into the washing machine is especially indicated for this type of pillows. Avoid drying them at high temperatures, trying to make the filling uniform and feathers do not cake. If it is at an outdoor point, better than better. And nothing of ironing them!
How to wash a fiber or synthetic pillow
This type of pillows can also be washed by machine, yes, with programs for delicate garments, using soft detergent and avoiding centrifuging it so as not to spoil it.
To dry it, we can use the dryer, always using the less powerful program. In the event that we are going to dry it outdoors, it is better to leave it on a straight surface and place it at a point where the sun does not directly.
